Knowing what kind of juice you are drinking not only benefits you from a health perspective but it also helps you to understand how to store your juice, it’s shelf life and how best to serve it. How does cold pressed juice compare to fresh juice?
Cold pressed juice is a result of special machines that press and crush fruits like oranges in order to extract juice. This method of juicing is good for retaining nutrients and enzymes since no heat was produced during the juicing process. Most big brands of cold pressed juice increase the preservation of the juice by means of a process called High Pressure Processing (HPP). Instead of using heat to kill pathogens, high pressure is used. This process gives the juice a shelf life ranging from 30-45 days
Fresh or regular juice is made from a juicing machine that uses fast-spinning blades to extract juice. The juice passes through a mesh filter. This type of juicing is mainly used by consumers at their homes and is ideal for immediate consumption. It is more cost-effective and faster than other forms of juicing. Whilst some nutrients may get lost during the process, no preservatives are added to give the juice a longer shelf life. It is thus fresher and healthier than consuming juice that is store-bought, however it has a greatly reduced shelf life which relies heavily on being kept cold at all times.
Joubert & Seuns fresh orange juice
The Joubert & Seuns Farmstall is famous for its freshly squeezed orange juice. Every month, 10 000 litres of freshly squeezed orange juice is produced at the farmstall. Visitors will be mesmerized by the incredible juicing machine that takes about 2.5 – 3 hours to make delicious, fresh orange juice. One batch can fill a tank of 600 litres which is the equivalent of three bins of oranges. Joubert & Seuns fresh orange juice has zero preservatives and is packed with nutrients. When buying fresh orange juice from the farmstall, it is vitally important to keep it cold at all times. WE recommend keeping the juice in a cooler bag or box when transporting it from the shop to your home, and then transfer it straight to your fridge. Enjoy the best nature has to offer.
